![]() ![]() Celebrating the release of the special 30th Anniversary box-set for Yu Yu Hakusho, and Cook returning to the role of Yusuke for the newly recorded OVAs included with the collection, got the chance to speak with Cook a little bit to talk coming back to the franchise, the best scenes in the anime, and more! One of the main anchors of the anime's success was its central star, Justin Cook, who provided the voice for its main character, Yusuke Urameshi. Serving as a pillar of anime on Cartoon Network, it's still got an impact. This was true for both the original Japanese language release, and for the English dubbed release as well. It's one of the franchises that continues to have an impact on anime fans of a certain generation, and has likely been in the conversation for many fans' favorite anime releases of all time. Hopefully, the Yu Yu Hakusho premiere will be worth all the hype.Yu Yu Hakusho is currently in the midst of celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the original anime taking on Yoshihiro Togashi's legendary manga, and it's still seen as one of the best anime ever released to this day. ![]() If it is successful, there will very likely be even more Japanese anime adaptations made by Netflix using TOHO in the future, which is something we can look forward to. They have a multi-year lease working together, and Yu Yu Hakusho is the first work that Netflix has made using TOHO's studio. Yu Yu Hakusho is being made by Netflix working together with TOHO, one of the top distributors of media in Japan. Having the series in Japanese does link it more closely to the original anime it is based on, and also makes more sense for the story - since it is set in Japan, unlike the other two fantasy titles. ![]() Both One Piece and Cowboy Bebop were made in English (though a Japanese dub is also available). What sets Yu Yu Hakusho apart from both of those titles is that it has been made by Netflix Japan, so its original language is in Japanese. The release of Yu Yu Hakusho as a live-action remake on Netflix follows the success of the One Piece live-action - and the failure of Cowboy Bebop. Considering the anime adaption of the Yu Yu Hakusho manga aired back in 1992-1995, there is a good chance that the series may be new to many people. It shows just enough to get people intrigued, whether they are fans of the original source material or not. It gives a basic introduction to what the plot of the series will be, showcasing a lot of the supernatural elements that are so important to the Yu Yu Hakusho story. The official trailer does, thankfully, have English subtitles, as it was posted on Netflix's main YouTube page as well as within the app itself. This means they may have been missed by some international fans if they are not following both pages.
